In a year, your child will be old enough for kindergarten. With typical class size between 20 to 25, kindergarten can be scary and children can easily go unnoticed. It’s important to you that your child attends kindergarten with a socially and academically confident attitude. You look for a preschool that can prepare your child to succeed in kindergarten.
At Little Theatre School, we strive to inspire curiosity, wonder and joy in learning. We understand how critical a child’s first school experience is to form early habits of learning and to influence their attitude toward education. Our mission is to be the most wonderful and positive first school experience that will lead to a lifelong love of learning. Our students love to come to school every day!
Our Pre-K program integrates the best of traditional and current teaching methods to create developmentally appropriate curriculum. Curriculum that is well balanced and aims to expand a young child’s world by helping each student acquire new knowledge and new skills, make and nurture friendships, and to learn about self-reliance, sharing, cooperation and critical thinking. Small class size enables our teachers to know each child and adapt the curriculum to optimize the development of the “whole” child. Our teachers are your children’s advocates.
Children learn through teacher facilitated and open-ended activities, imaginative play, arts and crafts, painting, sensory play, story telling, music and movement. In addition to self-help, emotional regulation and social rules, much time is devoted to reading, language arts, visual arts, math, social studies, science, health, technology and engineering.
Each Pre-K class enjoys a 30-minute music program each week. Using music as a teaching tool, students learn about music theory, rhythmic patterns and expressive movements, all to develop listening, following instructions, math, literacy, self-expression and motor skills. In addition, children are exposed to a variety of genres, composers, artists, and instruments. They also act out beloved nursery rhymes and musical games, both of which, promote creativity and performance confidence.
We celebrate development and learning success, and capitalize on the strengths of your child. We work with families to support our students’ emerging development opportunities.
You will see a transformation in your child at the end of the Pre-K program, a child who develops to be a capable student, ready to take on kindergarten.
